While human religion has a natural evolutionary trajectory moving from fear to enlightenment, The Urantia Book reveals a dark historical chapter: the progress of early humanity on Earth (Urantia) was severely distorted by the Lucifer Rebellion and the betrayal of our original Planetary Prince, Caligastia.
Subverting the Concept of the Universal Father
Prior to the rebellion (roughly 500,000 years ago), the headquarters of Planetary Prince Caligastia at Dalamatia taught early humanity about the "First Source and Center"—the Unseen Universal Father. However, when Caligastia joined Lucifer's rebellion, he systematically repudiated divine authority.
He taught primitive mortals that the Supreme Mind of the universe was non-existent and encouraged self-assertion and material focus.
With the collapse of the Prince's educational system post-rebellion, early humans lost higher spiritual guidance and fell back into fear-based practices.
The rebel regime actively catered to lower human instincts, binding mortal minds to visible, material idols rather than nurturing abstract spirit-seeking.
Rebellious Midwayers and "Power Gimmicks"
The most direct mechanism of spiritual deception was carried out by the rebellious primary midwayers. Out of the 50,000 primary midwayers originally stationed on Earth, an astonishing 40,119 joined Caligastia in rebellion.
Because midwayers exist on an energy plane between physical matter and spiritual force, they possess abilities that appear completely supernatural to material mortals:
Physical & Energy Manipulations: Rebellious midwayers could manipulate physical energy, produce unexplainable movements, and generate vocal phenomena near idol shrines.
Oracles & Mediumship: They routinely manipulated shamans, mediums, and pagan oracles, supplying localized predictions and minor miraculous displays.
Reinforcing Superstition: By executing these physical "power tricks," the rebel midwayers convinced primitive tribes that statues, carved icons, and sacred groves possessed living supernatural power.

Following the successful bestowal mission of Michael of Nebadon (Jesus) on Earth, the spiritual authority of Caligastia and his rebel associates was completely broken. The rebellious midwayers were stripped of their liberty and interned, permanently removing their ability to perform deceptive physical manipulations on human consciousness.
